EVALUATION

Just before you read the answers, I advise you to watch these opinion videos. I asked two actresses Lisa and Ksenya  a few questions about  my film . What they think and how they feel they were acting and what the result of “Hidden danger” will be.
1-In what ways does your production use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real fiction films (in your chosen genre)?

The genre of my film ‘Hidden Danger’ is a thriller. I were trying to follow all the generics conventions of the triller movie such as meis-en-scene, sound, props, audience etc. So actually the generic conventions of the mystery triller is suspense films where characters attempt solving, or involved in, a mystery. In the film will be a nice twist of the plot and interesting and.The music , soundtracks should be scary, dark and surprised. Also the meis-en-scene ought to be suitable such as dark locations, twilights time, scary places, and mystic atmosphere. Some actions are taking place on the street with girls which will look dangerous. In my actual movie the protagonist is the neardy girl,in the and of the film she is becoming angry and scary.

Also as props I were using artificial fangs of a vampire . My characters (actresses) were wearing costumes which are very glamour and expensive. It needs to show how vain, angry selfish and powerful they are. The protagonist (Kim, geek) Is wearing a usual , formal style clothes , glasses and a huge silly bag with her books in. Her hairstyle is simple and old fashion also. So all those things are showing that she is not fashionable and popular person in college.

My locations was not that scary as it could be , because it is scary by itself, buy actions and the plot. The special effects which I have used are just the growl sound and girls scream. At the end of the film I put the metal-hard rock music with a purpose to show how cool Kim (geek) is became.

There are some examples ( Shots from the actual film) which is showing the generic conventions.

There we can see the props (Vampire teeth)

      1                         2

1-(Before) Here we can see very silly, geek girl. She is shy and lonely.

2-(After) There we see confident, nice looking teenage girl. So it is easy to see the difference between two pictures.

All the props around is a parts of meis-en-scen

2How does your film represent particular social groups?

This film will be interesting for meddle class young people, they will probably find themselves in my movie. Of course my film will not be interesting for watching is you are a parent or an adult. The geek girl is represent shy ,not popular between classmates girl. She is from meddle class family. Other two girls are different from her. They are from rich families, wear many brand and expensive clothes and behave themselves very vain.  So I did try to attract young-age viewers by using a mystery story with a nice twist at the end, by choosing typical characters with different attitude and strongly shown personality. Moreover, the soundtrack at the end is make you feel strong.
3-What kind of media institution might distribute your film and why?

First of all, the genre of the “Hidden Danger” is quite famouse nowadays so many cinemas such as ODEON, Vue cinemas will probably happy to show it on the big screen.  Also, peer-to-peer sharing and downloading through the social networks such as You Tube, Facebook, VK etc, is easy and high speed way to distribute any types of media products. That means , if people will like my film -they will share it between each other easily. Moreover, video could be posted on the teenagers blogs and pages on the networks. Channel 4 is probably a suitable for showing my movie. Because most of  viewers of this channel  are teenagers and belong to the same social group.

Why it can be distributed , as I said before, the genre is popular and generic conventions are nicely done, so some companies might be interested in it. The story is interesting and attractive as well so its a good criteria for distribution as well.

4-Who would be the audience for your film?

There are twi videos with audiences opinion

Actually, my film is supposed to be watched by teenagers who are studying in college or school, approximately 13-17 years old. So the main thing is to catch this type of audience by following the generic conventions .Also there wee a geek-girl who turns in to the cool, popular  teenager at the end. So the main plot is supposed to be catching people of young age. So , young teenagers will be a perfect audience for my movie.

There are an examples of typical audience of my film

5How did you attract/address your audience?

Of course, If you want your film to be successful, you need to do many things to attract your audience. First of all, you need to know what type of audience will watch it, what kind of social groups it will represent and the main thing is following the generic conventions. First of all, my audience are suppose to be teenage girls, as I said before, that means that I need to use all the props which will catch them. For example, In my film I asked my actresses to wear wary fashionable and  stylish. To bring their expensive brand bags and many gadgets such as I-pad and I-phones which are so popular between teenagers now.

6What have you learnt about technologies in the process of constructing this film?

Making this movie, doing actual recording of every scene, taking photographs and editing was a trait experience for me. I found quite a lot of different editing tricks such as making one  sound slowly flowing into another, also I learned how to use Final Cut Pro properly and add sound on the sequence. Also, The last bit of the work on my movie was making the titles. The main purpose of it, is to make audience aware of the producer, actors and the genre and also to prepare them to the following story.

During filming process I am happy how I managed my time, because all of the actresses were able to participate in film and the all came on time. I am glad that girls were ready to act and they was wearing suitable clothes . It did help me and all process gone fast. I found the cut on action and the continuity especially during the fight at the end and with opening the door. All in all, I did like to do all this technical things.

This is how it looks like being a raw final product

7-Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
Our firts video task was to make a very short film – a conversation between two people to teach us how the 180 degree rule works. This is how to get a conversation to look real on the screen.
I did find this quite confusing and so my efforts were not very good. I did not quite understand how 180 degree rule works.
Later on, I understand my mistakes and learned from them.
You can see this from this clip from my final film which works well.
Its quite easy to do this rule well if you understand it. So I had a good experience and learned by mistakes.
